Anne Frank's Chestnut Tree......?

Amsterdam city council ruled that, said tree, is rotting and must be felled, as its a danger to public. Protests followed, and council have given them until January 08, to come up with a plan. Have you any thoughts on this issue.

(Tree is important to Anne in her Diary, and was overlooking the canal side warehouse where they were holed up)

Anne Frank's Chestnut Tree......?
Manhattan has a good idea. Maybe they could take some chestnuts off of the tree to plant in the same place and make something from the current tree trunk, like a beautiful bench to put under the next tree.
Reply:tricky issue
Reply:Anne Frank and anything to do with this wonderful woman must be preserved at all costs.
Reply:I assume there are a lot of issues on this one. A tree of this age and size must have tremendous roots, and if is putting the actual house/museum at danger as well, then action would have to be taken. I'm not a tree surgeon, but I hope they can save it, if only the trunk, and make a memoriam to Anne, around it.
