It can be done in one day; your hair shouldn't have to be stripped in a separate process, but it will get a bit damaged from the lightening process. Make sure you use products designed for color-treated hair after your dye job.

Go to a good colorist for this - if not done properly, your hair could be brassy (that horrible orange tone) or too bleached-looking.

Reply:it can be done, but i dont think it can be done in day one simply because a hairdresser wont be happy doing it. unless youre good at convincing people to do what you want, be prepared for a long process!

your hair wont need to be stripped i dont think, because you can from dark to light without prelighting, by just having a full head of highlights, which is how i got from brown back to my ashy blonde colour! took 2 full heads to get it there but it worked and looks fab!
Reply:Until 1wk ago mine was dyed almost black, but the hairdesser did blonde highlights (2 different shades) with foils, and it looks really good. He didn'' strip it first. Took 2hrs.
