Chestnut trees. using the chestnut how do i grow a tree.?
Well Alex ... in my yard I have two chestnut trees. One day I say this little sprout come up and then when the leaves opened I realized that it was a chestnut tree which had grown from a chestnut that a squirrel hat buried.

The following year it continued to grow and I found a chestnut on the sidewalk ... which I took home and simply planted it about 6 inches under the ground. I put it in at that depth thinking that a squirrel might dig it up. = )

The year after that it also sprouted. I didn't attend to it at all. Just let nature take it's course. So I would recommend that if you can find a chestnut that has fallen from a neighbour's tree or a tree in the park or cemetery ... just pick some up, take them home and stick them in the ground! Good luck !
Reply:I wish you success with your trees. Did you know that the Palm Trees in Miami were planted by burying coconuts? Report It

Reply:There are several Horse Chestnut trees where I work, the nut falls from the tree, sprouts and grows all on there own. Plant the nut in a couple inches of loose soil and let it grow. Not sure what is the right way up, for the nut. They are very messy trees, lots of cleanup in the fall. They have beautiful flowers in the spring. Maybe you can find a seedling that has sprouted from a fallen nut, dig it up and trasplant it
